Just like the rising of the sun each morning, your strength is meant to come back. This is for every single person who feels depleted of the inner strength and power they once had. Recognize today that it was God who gave you that power to begin with, and it is only God who can renew it. How did you come to be so weak when at one time you were strong and a force making a powerful difference in the world for good? There are several things that can drain us of inner strength. When you try to do God’s work in your own power, you soon realize you don’t last very long. When you allow those around you to drain you emotionally, mentally and spiritually, you will find yourself completely empty. When you fail to overcome temptations to sin against God, you feel the weight of that sin that suffocates your spiritual vitality. When you neglect times in prayer, you lose the sustaining power to keep going. When you don’t take time to rest, your strength to serve vanishes away like the wind.
You should know that God doesn’t mind you experiencing spiritual fatigue. He doesn’t mind it because it is a reminder that we are human and desperately need God. God doesn’t mind us becoming powerless because it’s then we are drawn back into sweet fellowship with the Almighty. Our God is a revivalist and loves to renew our strength. But there is a prerequisite to receiving renewed power from the Lord. Isaiah said, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” This is your challenge today. You cannot do what God in heaven wants done without His strength, so you must wait on the Lord. Those around you may not understand why you are not doing something, but those around you also may not value the discipline of waiting like God does. It takes so much faith to wait on the Lord because your carnal nature doesn’t want to wait, it wants to work and work. But God says to you, “Wait.”
A time will come to fly like an eagle. A time will come when your strength will be renewed and the sustaining power of God flows through you once again, but you must first wait on the Lord. Let me ask you, are you without strength? Do you need to be renewed? Are in God’s waiting room? If so, then this word is for you. Wait on the Lord!
