Raised Up by God

Anytime God raises someone up, the odds of them coming under attack are extremely high.  Today God is raising up his children for spiritual assignments—great and small—all for His glory.  God delights in raising up the “no-bodies” sometimes to replace those who think they are somebody.  He raises his children up to speak to certain people and to lead certain groups and to deliver others.  God anointed David before He raised him up to kill Goliath.  Not long after David killed Goliath he was raised up again and befriended by Jonathan and promoted by King Saul, but then came the attack.

SCRIPTURES

“Now it had happened as they were coming [home,] when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. 7 So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” 8 Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed [only] thousands. Now [what] more can he have but the kingdom?” I Samuel 18:6-8

When God is raising you up, you might come under attack by someone you never would have suspected.  Filled with jealousy, envy and anger, King Saul turned on the one he had promoted in his military army and the one who gave him victories against Israel’s enemies.  Instead of being thankful for the victory over the Philistines, King Saul became angry with David for the praise he received.  Saul was angry and jealous because he wanted the praise.

Jealousy and envy is one of the ugliest parts of the old human nature.  We should learn to rejoice with everyone in the victories.  We should learn to appreciate the unique abilities of others and esteem them better than ourselves.  We should walk in the spirit and grow in our faith and understanding so that jealousy and envy doesn’t lead us down the wrong path.  You should know by now that the enemy will always put people on the stage in front of you who can sing better than you can and speak better than you can and can do whatever you do better than you can just to see if jealousy and envy will rise up in you.

From this point on, live with the constant awareness that when God raises you up for any task, an attack will come at some point.  Begin today to see the attacks on your life as a sign that you are being raised up by God.
